Scaling & Root Planing
why choose us
Fundamentals in Oral Care!
Scaling and root planing remove plaque and tartar from beneath the gumline, where regular brushing and flossing cannot reach.
Preventing Gum Disease Onset
Prevent the onset of periodontitis, a more severe form of gum disease that can lead to tooth loss and other health issues.
Enhancing Overall Oral Health
Beyond targeting gum disease, scaling and root planing improve overall oral health. The removal of plaque and tartar not only prevents gum disease but also reduces the risk of cavities and bad breath.
Protection Against Tooth Loss
Scaling and root planing strengthen the foundation of your teeth by removing the agents of disease and infection, thus protecting against the loosening and loss of teeth.
Preventing Gum Disease Onset
This process helps prevent the onset of periodontitis, a more severe form of gum disease that can lead to tooth loss and other health issues.
At Burgin Dentistry, our mission is to proactively prevent dental issues through routine cleanings and examinations. However, should you exhibit signs of gum disease, a simple prophylaxis cleaning might not suffice. We employ sophisticated methods to address gingivitis, the initial stage of gum disease, utilizing scaling and root planing (also known as SRP). This non-invasive treatment, conducted by our expert hygienists, aims to eradicate gum disease by eliminating plaque and tartar beneath the gum line. It meticulously cleans the gum pockets and smoothens the teeth to deter future plaque accumulation.
During your visit, our adept dental team will assess the depth of your gum pockets. Should these pockets exceed 3 millimeters, we may suggest scaling and root planing as a preventive measure. SRP is instrumental in reducing gum pocket depth, thereby preventing plaque and bacteria from harboring in these spaces, which is a precursor to gum disease.
Scaling and root planing is a widely accepted treatment for gum disease and is typically partially covered by dental insurance. Our staff will liaise with your insurance provider to clarify any potential out-of-pocket costs.
